The Story:

Hi, my name is Xavier Tan and I’m the creator of Genius on Purpose. I come from sunny Singapore and I have a Bachelor of Psychology (Honors).

In the past, I was the kind of student who flunked almost every subject in school. In fact, I was ranked the worst student in my class a few times.

To say that I was demoralized would be an understatement. I felt that I was outright stupid. I always felt that people who got good grades were simply geniuses and more talented than me.

But then I gradually realized how wrong I was. When I turned 19, I enlisted into the military and met some amazing people – people who excelled academically.

During my time there, I realized something I never discovered before. I realized that the people who were doing well in school had certain skills and habits. I realized that they were not necessarily smarter than me. They just had the right skills.

This was when I realized that success as a student can be learned. In fact, its really a system.

Since completing my military service, my perspective on life changed. I matured and I saw the world with a different perspective. When I went to college, I told myself that I didn’t want to go back to my old life anymore. I didn’t want to fail anymore. I wanted to get good grades and excel in school. I wanted to do my parents proud. Above all, I wanted to show people that anyone can succeed in school.

And so I did.

Now, I score distinctions for 90% of the modules in my Psychology undergraduate course.

Why I created Genius on Purpose:

Since I went from a “stupid-flunk-almost-every-subject” student to scoring 90% distinctions,

I realized that success as a student can be learned. In fact, success as a student is a system. You just need to have the right ingredients in place, carry out the steps, and you’ll see a change in your life.

Genius on Purpose was created to help you get those ingredients and show you those steps.

It’s the outcome of many years of casual observations and interactions with straight-A students, followed by years of trial and error, sifting out real techniques that work from useless theoretical methods devised by professors or self-proclaimed academic skills experts.

Genius on Purpose was created based on the belief that no one is stupid, that if you just have the right skills and habits in place, you’ll succeed in school.

Of course, I can’t say that everyone can become a scholar. I would be lying to you.

But I’m pretty sure that if you’re not happy with your grades, you can definitely get something out of this website and improve your grades.

If a “stupid” guy like me can achieve good academic results, almost ANYONE can do it too.

The fact is I didn’t become smarter. I just put in some effort and used the right studying techniques.

Genius on Purpose will show you how I did it, and how you can do it too.
